Honey bee

Honey bee are often yellow and black in color. They measure between 7/16 to 5/8 inch and have a hairy body. Their favorite food is nectar and pollen.

They live in colonies of 20 to 80 thousand individuals. They ignore the human being when there is no provocation. The queen only lays eggs. Its lifespan is up to 5 years and it lays between 1500 to 2000 eggs per day.

The only role of the bumblebees is to fertilize the queen after which they die. Female workers watch over the eggs in the hive.

The painful sting is harmless to most, but in some people it can cause a severe allergic reaction.
